Description:What on earth is Yin Yoga? Yin Yoga is more mediative style of yoga, with the asanas being held for at least 90 seconds or longer. Doing so, helps our bodies shift into a state that works with our tendons, ligaments, joints, bones, and fascia (or connective tissue), rather than focusing on our muscles like we would be doing in a more heating style of yoga. Although this is still an active practice, the name Yin Yoga, created by Sarah Powers, was deemed more appropriate due to the passive and slow qualities it has. This type of practice is a perfect balance to our sometimes hectic, and more yang-like lives. You will leave this class calm, and with a sense of new found space and awareness within your mind and body.
